Wisconsin Voters for Companion Animals is a grass roots, not-for-profit, bi-partisan, companion animal advocacy group. For our purposes we classify dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and other small pets as companion animals. We do not accept donations of any kind. Our work is self-funded.
Our Mission: To provide information and alerts relevant to the introduction of companion animal legislation in the state of Wisconsin, provide information about individual Wisconsin legislators with regards to their voting records or opinions on animal legislation, to inform voters about the high scoring candidates, and to recruit members who will support animal legislation and vote.
Our Focus: To be effective we have focused our efforts on these areas of animal welfare that result in the death of millions of companion animals in America each year.
They are:
1. Breed Discriminatory Legislation (we oppose this)
2. Community (often called feral) Cats and Trap, Neuter, Return programs (we support TNR)
3. Pet Stores and Commercial Breeders
4. Animal Cruelty
5. Reforming Animal Control
6. Court Case Dogs (improving the process for handling seized dogs)
7. Mandatory Spay/Neuter Legislation (we oppose this)
Read about these issues and our position on each under the Our Issues tab. We use Facebook, Twitter and our blog to relay current information and updates to the public.
